Affliction has officially announced their second show "Day of Reckoning" , to be held at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on October 11th. They've also announced a partnership with Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino, which will sponsor the event, as well as HDNet, who will show a three-fight undercard before the seven-fight PPV broadcast.
Bouts were announced for both the PPV portion, as well as the HDNet undercard portion of the show at the press conference. The main event is going to be a fight between Andrei Arlovski and Josh Barnett, for the #1 contendership to the WAMMA Heavyweight Title, currently held by Fedor Emelianenko.
Also rounding out the PPV portion of the announcements were bouts between Vladimir Matyushenko and Antonio Rogerio Nogueria, as well as Matt Lindland taking on Vitor Belfort in a middleweight showdown. The Belfort/Lindland fight has been announced, but is contingent upon Belfort's broken hand healing properly enough for him to gain medical clearance for the fight.
Heading up the HDNet undercard portion of the show will be a bout between IFL Heavyweight Champion Roy Nelson and Paul Buentello. Nelson was thought to be in line to fight Xtreme Couture's Jay White, but that match fell apart and Buentello was slotted in instead. Mike Pyle will also be featured on the HDNet broadcast, facing off against Jason High.
Notable in his absence was Tito Ortiz, who SI.com was reporting had signed a lucrative contract with Affliction that was to be announced at today's press conference. Instead, it was announced only that Affliction was interested in signing Ortiz and that he had met with Donald Trump Jr. just yesterday to discuss a potential contract.
