Fighting on June 15 but not in MMA!

First of all, thank you everyone for being so patient when waiting for news regarding my next fight. Although I really wanted to face Jerome LeBanner on June 15, this fight is unfortunately postponed. I've been training for a MMA bout for almost 2 month and I'm going to fight on June 15, but not under MMA rules!
DREAM offered me a unique challenge, to face Ralek Gracie in a grappling match.
Since there was no opportunity for me to fight under MMA rules in June, I accepted this challenge and I'm going to face Ralek under modified Abu Dhabi rules. The fight is set for two 5-minute rounds, there are no points, so the only way to win this fight is by submission. If we make the distance the fight will be automatically declared a draw.
This is probably something you didn't see coming, it came really out of blue.
However, in a given circumstances, this is a unique opportunity for me to test my ground game against top level competition and it's going to be exciting.
I'll prepare for this match with my grappling coach Marcio Corletta, a two times world champion. |

Well done Mirko and good luck with that! And for all those of you who say that this is ridiculous, just check out what's really important in the cage... a good grapling game obviously...not JUST the stand up, if a guy is a good grappler and throws the oponent around the cage like for example Randy did perfectly he wins the game...and what did we say, we want to see Mirko as UFC champion, well he's building his game for it, it's so obvious. If I was him, I would think the same. | |

hey mirko, i really dont want to think about what is the future holding for you for example which way to go or what competition you should get into..... only thing iam saying is ,there are millions of peoples out there who truly wants to see you compete and make your way back to the top again. i dont think any other fighter has that many fans as you got. just think about it . I SUPPORT YOU EITHER WAY NO MATTER WHAT !!! | |

I read these comments and alot of them are negative, and probably not coming from true fighters or fans. A fan doesnt jump on and off the bandwagon, a fan is a fan for life. I think this is an awsome opportunity for you Mirko...so many critics who dont fight like to say that you have "no" ground game, which is rediculous. You just prefer standing. You have the best takedown defense of any heavyweight and you are still one of the most exciting fighters out there. Good luck in the grappling match, I can't wait to watch it. And good luck with Le Banner later on. Keep training hard and dont give up on yourself even if people on the outside talk trash. You still have many loyal fans and will go down as a legend no matter what.

This would surely be an interesting fight to see, because I haven't seen much submission coming from a striker like you. It should be quite a fight... But I still wish you would somehow come up with a rematch against Fedor ;) before both of you get too old. | |

its good to test your skills but what you need is real MMA fight ...so i think the best is Mirko to back in UFC and beat Gonzaga,Konga,Minotauro..

Thats ridiculous !!! I don't believe that Dream is unable to arrange adequate opponent in mma struggle. Sorry but i don't believe that everybody in Japan is affraid of Mirko, either.
What is that suppose to mean? Why is this grappling circus instead of real mma fight? Injury or lack of opponents?
